The Wisconsin Badgers have released their 2025 volleyball non-conference schedule. The Big Ten release is still to come tomorrow, Wednesday, at 11 a.m. CT. However, the non-conference schedule is always important to look through because the Big Ten is loaded, and thus, it's interesting to see how loaded the Badgers will make their non-conference schedule.
There were a few big games that we already knew Wisconsin would play, like Kansas and Texas. Those two were scheduled as part of the Opening Spike Classic hosted at the Kohl Center. However, there are a few surprises in terms of big games that could ultimately matter in the grand scheme of the rankings and the NCAA Tournament seeding.
Wisconsin will play both Georgia Tech and Florida in September
The biggest games that no one knew about are both in September. The Badgers go on the road to take on Georgia Tech on September 12th. The Yellow Jackets finished the season at 22nd in the AVCA rankings and 26th in Volleyball RPI. That could be a potentially huge matchup.
The other big game is against an SEC powerhouse, the Florida Gators, on September 21st. The Gators were 23rd in Volleyball RPI and 14th in the final AVCA rankings. While they lost some heavy hitters in the portal, like Kennedy Martin, they have reloaded in other ways. They will still be one of the best teams in the SEC and will potentially be an important matchup for the Badgers.
The Big Ten schedule will not be as surprising, but it will be challenging. The conference is loaded with the top 25 teams and teams that will be looking to win the National Championship next season. Thus, with the combo of this non-conference schedule and the Big Ten schedule, Wisconsin is setting itself up to be one of the most impressive teams in the country, especially if they secure many of these huge games.
