Wisconsin volleyball has officially kicked off the season with its annual red-white scrimmage. An inner squad game that helps prepare Kelly Sheffield's team for the season. The Badgers have a star-studded squad, and yet one player stood out over the rest in the scrimmage: Grace Egan

Egan is a transfer from Big Ten rival Ohio State, who was the best player on her team last season and now may be emerging as one of the stars for the Badgers this season. After two sets, she had already compiled 12 kills according to Wisconsin volleyball's social media account.

Grace Egan is ready to be a Wisconsin volleyball star

Egan, a redshirt sophomore, is not the only Big Ten transfer that came to the Badgers in the offseason. Wisconsin also added Mimi Colyer from the Oregon Ducks. Both Egan and Colyer are set to be the stars for the Badgers this season. The two outside hitters were dominant last season and yet are ready to take another step forward this year under the development of Kelly Sheffield.

The crazy part is, Egan wasn't mentioned in the Preseason All-Conference Team awards. Teammates Carter Booth, Mimi Colyer, and Charlie Fuerbringer were on it. She also wasn't noted on the Player of the Year watchlists; the only ones mentioned were Mimi Colyer and Charlie Fuerbringer. Kelly Sheffield actually mentioned Booth as the player to watch this season.

This could have put a nice chip on the shoulder for Egan, who is looking to have a huge year for the No. 8-ranked Badgers if she can play like this throughout the season, the outside hitter position for Wisconsin could be the best in the country.

Wisconsin will take on Notre Dame on Sunday, August 17, in an exhibition game before the official season starts with the Opening Spike Classic on August 29-31. The Badgers will face off against No. 14-ranked Kansas.
