The Badgers are up against their third foe of the season in a game that many are calling a "get-right" game. It's the week before conference play, and the Badgers have yet to look good for an entire game. This needs to be the complete game that Wisconsin fans are desperate to see. It should never really be close, and the offense and defense should both be clicking.

It's also a game in which Colton Joseph needs to show that he can execute the offense and sustain drives consistently down the field. This game is one in which he, as well as the fans, is being watched closely.

The other thing of note is that the Badgers have yet to cover the spread. So when you read the following odds and predictions, keep that in mind. Is that because they've yet to complete a game with consistent play? Yes, but it also should make you leery of whether they can cover the spread today, even though it's shrunk.

Moneyline

  • Wisconsin -4000
  • Eastern Michigan +1400

Spread

  • Wisconsin -23.5 (-112)
  • Eastern Michigan +23.5 (-108)

Total

  • 44.5 (over -115/under -105)

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.

As you can see, the odds have dropped for Wisconsin from 24.5 at the start of the week to 23.5. Not a huge drop and still a sizable margin, but it seems as if Wisconsin's lackluster performance through two weeks isn't inspiring better odds from Vegas. The Badgers could use a really sizable win, and it has nothing to do with odds or betting, but purely with good football performance.

Wisconsin vs. Eastern Michigan game prediction

Let's break down two different predictions here; one is using the Vegas spread and points to come up with a Vegas prediction. Then I will offer up my prediction to add to the one that Vegas puts forth. So for the Vegas prediction, you simply take the spread and the over/under, and you use a little math to figure out exactly how Vegas sees the game going. Of course, there's no 1/2 points in football but that's the point, as a better you need to pick the over or the under. The higher or the lower.

You need to get to around 44 points and a winning margin of 24 for Wisconsin. So a realistic final score would be 34-10. This would be picking the under, which checks out with Wisconsin so far this season.

The optimism in me wants me to go higher, but the realism in me is not trusting a Luke Fickell team. What will win out? Optimism. I think this is the week that Wisconsin is able to handle their opponent, but with some frustrating bumps. They will cover the spread but also make some mistakes.

l prediction: Wisconsin 41-18
