Wisconsin is heading into the second Big Ten game of the season against Michigan State with some mixed feelings. On one hand, the Badgers knocked off Penn State in Happy Valley for the first time since 2003. Then, on the other hand, Penn State just got blasted by Northwestern and may actually be bad this season. So, there's a bit of "YAY" and "WELP" mixed into this game against Michigan State.

Hopefully, it means the Badgers won't come in taking the Spartans for granted, but instead be ready to blast Michigan State to prove that even with Penn State not being good, Wisconsin is for real.

As we dig into the odds, we should note that Wisconsin's chaos messes with Vegas every single week.

This may just be a wild coincidence, and hopefully it's not a bad omen, but these are the exact same final spread and over/under as the Penn State game. Except this time Wisconsin is the favorite. We know what happened with Penn State in that game...at home. So, Wisconsin needs to get settled into the game and put the Spartans away, something that the Nittany Lions did not do for the Badgers.

It's an interesting final odd, other than that weird coincidence, as the Badgers are nearly a double-digit favorite at home. There's a little bit more respect being put on the Wisconsin product.

Wisconsin vs. Michigan State game prediction

Let's look at a couple of predictions. The first will be from Vegas. The prediction comes from using both the spread and the over/under. This allows us to figure out, by using a reasonable football score, what the closest prediction is from Vegas. With 9.5 as the spread and 43.5 as the over/under, Vegas is predicting a score of 27-17 in favor of Wisconsin. This is obviously an "over" score, but it's a reasonable score based on the inputs.

This feels like a safe score, but Wisconsin has yet to have a game in which they've come close to any of the Vegas numbers. Sure, as the season unfolds, Vegas will get better at figuring out the Badgers and get closer to these scores. This one feels legit. But I think I may add a little more Wisconsin chaos to my prediction.

l prediction: Wisconsin wins 33-17

The defense will look great again, and the Badgers will roll. This may be a bit too high on the Badger offense, but if we are going to be fans, we might as well be optimistic.
