The Wisconsin women's hockey team is the best team in the country, and there's no one arguing against that fact. They have only lost one game all year, and two major things happened for the UW women's hockey program this last week. Both are historic and program-deciding. We are truly watching history in front of our eyes every time the 2024-2025 Wisconsin women's hockey skates touch the ice.

Wisconsin women's hockey are the WCHA regular season champions

The first happened before the Minnesota series when Wisconsin had a large enough lead in the standings over Ohio State to secure the WCHA regular season championship. They are now 23-1-2 on the season and will have the first seed in the WCHA playoffs. This is important for the tournament as that will give them a home-ice advantage and a matchup against the team that comes in at No. 8.

They still have a series against Bemidji State on February 21 and 22 before the end of the season, but their points in the standings have them uncatchable by any of the other teams. After that series, they will host the first round of the WCHA playoffs.

Wisconsin's women's hockey pulled off a season sweep of Minnesota for the second time ever

It's hard to beat your rivals consistently, especially when you see them multiple times in a year for multiple games in a series. The Badgers took on the Golden Gophers in four different games and two different series this year, and UW won every single contest. They ended the season series with a 23-6 goal-scoring advantage over Minnesota. In other words, it wasn't even close. The final game was the nail in the coffin for the domination of the Golden Gophers with a 6-1 walloping.

This Wisconsin Badgers team is special, and as they finish up the season and look towards the playoffs, if you haven't tuned in yet, get on board. Let's watch Wisconsin dominate women's hockey.
