The Xavier Lucas drama just took another twist, and it's only gotten uglier. There was indications earlier this week that things were coming to a resolution with Lucas and Wisconsin but today a new wrinkle has been added and it's a big one; Lucas has hired a lawyer to get things cleared up. The lawyer posted on social media today that his first step is to demand the NCAA fix it and, if not, to sue Wisconsin. Yikes.

Xavier Lucas' lawyer plans to go to the NCAA first and then send Wisconsin to litigation if this isn't resolved.

It seems the drama has only escalated and not diminished. Lucas has been public about his frustration on social media, too. He posted this message on X: "I still intend to transfer, but at the moment, Wisconsin is refusing to release me into the transfer portal. I’ve met all NCAA requirements of the transfer portal process. I’ve yet to be put into the transfer portal by Wisconsin, which is impeding my ability to speak with schools." That was his last message, and it seems his next step is to hire a lawyer.

As for head coach Luke Fickell's defense, he seems to be frustrated with tampering. While he has said nothing about this matter specifically, he has talked recently about how teams have been targeting his players long before they jump into the transfer portal. This is a problem that is happening throughout college football, but it seems as if Fickell has decided to do something about it and stop Miami from stealing Lucas, or at least trying to.

There's no way this situation resolves itself peacefully without Fickell and Wisconsin stepping aside and letting Lucas go. While it appears that it's a statement that Wisconsin is trying to make that tampering has gotten out of hand, the frustrations are seeping into legal action, and that's not where Fickell needs to be focused.
