Stengel is a Wisconsin native. As a prep player he starred for Sheboygan North High School as a wide receiver and safety before heading to Wisconsin in 2011.

The 6-4, 203-pound player chose the offensive route once he arrived in Madison, staying at wide receiver. Stengel took a redshirt season his first year on campus in 2011.
He saw the field as a redshirt freshman in 2012 in only a special teams role, and in his first career game — against UTEP on Sept. 22 — he recovered a fumble. He had his first career tackle Sept. 29 on the road against Nebraska.
Stengel played in six total games in 2012, including the Big Ten Championship game against Nebraska. As a result he earned his varsity letter in 2012. Stengel finished the year with one tackle and one fumble recovery over those six appearances.
He has not played in a game since, sitting out the entirety of the 2013 and 2014 seasons. Stengel remains on the roster as a practice player.
Stengel’s younger brother, Noah, also joined the Badgers this year. Also coming to Wisconsin out of Sheboygan North, the younger Stengel will also be playing wide receiver for Wisconsin.
Stay tuned to Badger of Honor as we continue to profile the 2015 senior class.
