Wisconsin Football: Top 30 Games in Wisconsin Badgers History
By Jim Oxley
#10 Wisconsin vs. #5 Purdue: October 16, 2004
Wisconsin 20, Purdue 17
Another of the more memorable finishes in Wisconsin football history, the Badgers needed a play late on the road against Purdue in 2004.
With under three minutes to play, and trailing 17-14, the Badgers needed to come up with a stop to get the ball back. Purdue quarterback Kyle Orton took a naked bootleg around the right side of the line, and lunged to get a first down. He was tag-teamed by Scott Starks and Robert Brooks, and fumbled on the play.
Starks picked up the ball and raced 40 yards for a touchdown, the eventual game-winner in a stunning comeback victory. Purdue missed a 42-yard field goal attempt in a final effort following the turnover.
John Stocco threw for 211 yards and a touchdown in the victory, connecting with Brandon Williams seven times for 84 yards. Anthony Davis rushed for 66 yards and a score.
