Nigel Hayes has yet another memorable press conference

If you thought Nigel Hayes‘ press conference antics were down following the memorable run to the National Championship game last season, you thought wrong.

More badgers: Nigel Hayes Leads Badgers to Fifth Straight Win

The Badgers star forward scored 21 points to help the Badgers take down Ohio State Thursday night, helping Wisconsin to it’s fifth straight victory. The Wisconsin junior is scoring 17.1 points per game this season, and is averaging 21.8 points per game during the Badgers current win streak.

And just like last season, when Hayes was calling women beautiful and trying to throw off the press conference stenographer, Hayes was up to his old antics Thursday night.

It started with a little pre-planned foolery.

During the broadcast, ESPN play-by-play commentator Rece Davis dropped the word “desiderata,” saying he had made a deal with Hayes before the game, agreeing to say the word during the game if Hayes did so during the press conference.

Hayes happily obliged, using the word (which means something that is needed or wanted) to describe how the Badgers took down Ohio State.

He, of course, made sure the fine folks in the media would get a hold of Davis to make sure the ESPN analyst knew he kept his end of the deal.

More from Wisconsin Basketball

Hayes was only getting started there. He talked about potentially being the singer in a rock band and shot down comparisons to Frank Kaminsky.

Finally, Hayes was asked if a win over Ohio State (Hayes is from Toledo, Ohio) carried an extra meaning.

His response?

“No, I’m cool. They got the guys they wanted. I’ll take my two Final Fours, my wins, and I’ll carry on my merry way.”

Ruthless. Mic drop.
