The Wisconsin football team is looking for receivers to step up, could Reggie Love be one of them?

By the very nature of the sport, every season of college football requires new players to continually step up year after year. Which Wisconsin football team members could be the one to have a big year in 2016?

The Badgers have a competition ongoing for the No. 3 receiver job, a competition that senior Reggie Love is capable of winning.

Currently, Love and junior George Rushing are the top candidates for the No. 3 job, and both should see the field this fall.

Love has the potential to be a breakout player this fall if he builds off of the strong spring session he put together this year.

That comes after he saw more action on the field last year, totaling four catches for 55 yards and seven carries for 38 yards.

Love, at 6-foot-3, 220-pounds, is the same height and 20 pounds heavier than No. 1 receiver Rob Wheelwright, and can use that size to his advantage this fall.

Playing opposite Wheelwright and with the smaller, speedy Jazz Peavy in the slot, Love could see plenty of targets his way this fall if he can earn the No. 3 or No. 4 spot in the receiving corps.

It won’t be easy, as coming out of spring ball it appears Rushing has the slight lead in the two-man battle. But Love, a senior, has just one last chance to make an impact this fall, and likely won’t take that opportunity lightly.

Love has one touchdown in his career – a 45-yard carry for a score on his first touch of the 2014 season against LSU.

The Badgers could use another big play from Love in this season’s matchup with LSU, and it could be the start of a breakout campaign in his senior season.
