The best case scenario for the Wisconsin Badger offense

The best case for the Wisconsin Badger offense doesn’t necessarily involve fireworks.  The Badgers won’t suddenly transform into Marcus Mariota and Oregon.

I love reminiscing about Brett Bielema’s final game as Wisconsin coach.  That was the day Wisconsin drubbed the Huskers 70-31.  Virtually everything Wisconsin tried worked.  So sure, in a sense, that game is the best case for the Badgers.  Not likely that Wisconsin will hang 70 points on most opponents and racking up 640 yards of offense.

So the 2012 Big Ten title will remain just a memory.

For 2017, the beat case goes something like this.  The Wisconsin ground game is diverse with different running backs pacing the offense week-to-week.  Sort of a New England Patriots model with a new hot hand every week.

Alex Hornibrook progresses as a passer showing improved arm strength, quick release, and most importantly, slices his turnover numbers.  Meanwhile, some young WR emerge to complement Jazz Peavy and Troy Fumagalli adding a little diversity to the passing game.

Up front, the Wisconsin offensive line stays healthy and keeps humming with Michael Deiter as left tackle.
