BUFFALO, NY - MARCH 18: Bronson Koenig

ex-Wisconsin point guard Bronson Koenig signed with the Chicago Bulls.  So what are his chances of making the Bulls roster?

Former Wisconsin Badger guard Bronson Koenig spent the summer league with the Milwaukee Bucks.  But his NBA journey continues a little south with the Chicago Bulls.

Koenig signed a camp invite deal with the Bulls worth $815,615 for the season.  He’ll enter restricted free agency after the upcoming season.

Of course, that is all dependent on Koenig sticking around the Bulls franchise.  The club has the player option for the 2018-2019 season.

While the Bulls did lose Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade this off-season.  There is still going to be stiff competition for guard spots. The good news for Koenig is he can slot in as either a point guard or shooting guard.

Chicago currently has five shooting guards and four point guards on its roster.  Of that mix, only two have contracts which are not guaranteed past the upcoming season.  Only two of those nine hit restricted free agency in 2017-2018 season.

The Bulls could use Koenig’s smooth shooting stroke.  Chicago finished with the 2nd fewest three point attempts in the NBA.   They also were 24th in the league in three point shooting percentage.  In addition, the Bulls were 25th in field goal percentage.

If Koenig doesn’t make the Bulls regular season roster, he could stick in the developmental Gatorade League.  The not so imaginatively named Windy City Bulls are Chicago’s affiliate club.  Former Wisconsin Badger basketball player Duje Dukan is on the Windy City Bulls.
