A quarter of Wisconsin football players were named to the Walter Camp All American 2nd Team this week
According to a UW Athletic Department news release, the Badgers placed four players on the Walter Camp All American teams. Wisconsin and Oklahoma were the only programs that had four individuals honored.
For the Badgers, star freshman RB Jonathan Taylor, senior TE Troy Fumagalli were on the team. But you probably could have guessed those names already.
I’m especially bullish on the fact that junior ILB TJ Edwards and sophomore RT Dave Edwards also earned recognition. Both guys are undervalued stars playing premium positions for Badger football.

For the season, TJ Edwards is 2nd on the Badgers with 75 total tackles. He also is tied with S Joe Ferguson for the team lead with four interceptions. His 11 tackles-for-loss are good for 2nd on the team.
At 6-foot-1-inch and 244 pounds he shows remarkable ability in pass coverage. That’s going to serve him well throughout the NFL Draft process whenever that occurs. The “modern LB” is really just an oversized safety. But there are still plenty of jobs available for true three-down sideline-to-sideline backers like TJ Edwards.
As for Dave Edwards, the 6-foot-7-inch 315 Downers Grove, Illinois native has been an anchor on the Badger line for two seasons now. In 26 career games, he has logged 19 starts at RT.
Given that southpaw Alex Hornibrook is the starting QB, having a good RT is critical since that is the blindside. Keep in mind, Wisconsin could have elected to flip Edwards to the left side after Ryan Ramcyzk left. But they instead kept him at RT and pushed out center Michael Deiter.

In addition, a whole lot of big runs for the powerful Wisconsin running game came over the right side. Dave Edwards is a major reason why. He and junior Beau Benzschawel are a formidable tandem on the right side of the Wisconsin OL.
