ESPN listed off every ranked teams most underrated player, giving Danny Davis a special shoutout.

Wisconsin football is full of underrated and undervalued players. It’s something the Badgers experience during recruiting, during the college career, and even into the pros. It seems Badgers don’t often get the recognition they deserve. But one particular Badger, Danny Davis, is getting national attention for his skill. ESPN is hoping to bring a little more respect to Davis’ name for the 2018 season.

ESPN listed Davis as the Badgers most underrated player, which is something I strongly agree with. Davis wasn’t listed as one of our most underrated returning Badgers, but he was somebody we thought could have a breakout season next year. Read below.

There’s no denying Davis’ talent and the contribution he can make to the team. Look no further than the Orange Bowl last year where Davis made three touchdown catches.

ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg was the one who chose Davis for the Badgers.

"Wisconsin hasn’t been known for explosive wide receivers, but things should change this season thanks to Davis and others. Davis averaged more than 16 yards per reception as a freshman and tied for second on the team with five touchdowns, including three against Miami in the Orange Bowl. Along with Quintez Cephus, A.J. Taylor and others, Davis brings the dynamic speed element that Wisconsin has lacked. – Rittenberg"

The running game can help Davis

Wisconsin is always going to be a run-first offense, but this year we could see more than the typical one wide receiver sets. Paul Chryst has shown trust in Alex Hornibrook and his receivers to spread the offense out with multiple receivers. If this trend continues, Davis can become one of the most feared weapons in the Big Ten.

Teams are going to have to stack the box against Jonathan Taylor and the Badger offensive line. That will create opportunities for Davis and others to win individual matchups on the perimeter. Davis shredded the Miami defense when given those chances, and the Hurricanes are as athletic as they come.

Wisconsin can be the best offense in the Big Ten in 2018 with Davis contributing at a high level. If the running game goes off without a hitch, expect big time numbers all around and the Badgers to be one of the highest scoring teams in the entire country.
