No. 20 BYU at No. 11 Washington

BYU continues to climb the polls after upsetting Wisconsin. The Cougars were No. 25 last week and are all the way up to No. 20 now. They’re huge underdogs at Washington this week and have a great chance to climb even higher. A win for BYU in this game could potentially have them leapfrog the Badgers in the polls as the Badgers sit at home on a bye week.

I really try not to believe in things like “good losses” or “moral victories” because a loss is a loss and there’s no way around it. Attitudes can change depending on how a team loses but you’d still like to have won instead. That’s what this is all about at the end of the day.

That being said, if BYU upsets Washington, the loss that Wisconsin has to BYU will almost be completely wiped off of its resume as a “bad loss.” The loss will obviously still stick, but if the committee is comparing Wisconsin to another potential one-loss conference champion, Wisconsin’s loss won’t be as bad as we once thought it could be.

The Cougars do have a tough game in front of them. Washington is no pushover and Chris Peterson is one of the best coaches in the country. Washington is also one of the tougher places to play in the country. BYU will certainly earn this win if it comes away victorious as 17-point underdogs.

This will be the third ranked matchup going on in the same block of the schedule Saturday night so it might not be on everybody’s television. But I recommend finding a way to follow along with this one. Washington hasn’t been as impressive as they were supposed to be this year and BYU already has one major upset under its belt. This game could get interesting.
