Danny Davis

Since returning from his two-game suspension, Danny Davis has been relatively quiet. In two games against BYU and Iowa, he only has five catches. By Wisconsin standards, I suppose that isn’t terrible. In those same two games, A.J. Taylor also has five catches and Jake Ferguson has seven. Davis isn’t behind the mark. He just feels like he hasn’t done much yet.

More from Badger of Honor

If my prior prediction is true about Alex Hornibrook having a great game then Davis should be part of it. He’s had an entire bye week and two games to get fully acclimated back into the offense. His talent is undeniable. It’s the trust he has from his coaches and quarterback to make plays that will determine his success. Coming into the season he was suspected to be a big-play threat down the field. It’s time for him to show why.

Taylor and Ferguson are clearly some of Hornibrook’s favorite targets. He looks for those guys on third downs and big plays all the time. If the Wisconsin offense is going to continue modernizing then it’ll have to incorporate a third target sooner or later.

I refuse to believe Davis is going to just be a backup option for Hornibrook moving forward. He’s too talented and Hornibrook is trying to develop his own game too much. This weekend would be the perfect time for Davis to break out as he did in the Orange Bowl last year.

I’m expecting a ton of points to go up on the board for Wisconsin. Davis should be on the receiving end of at least one touchdown and a few big plays.
