The Wisconsin football team had a big day in the transfer portal. First, they got a commitment from UCLA cornerback Jay Shaw and then just under an hour later, they got a commitment from his teammate at UCLA, wide receiver Keontez Lewis.

Keontez Lewis comes to Madison with three years of eligibility remaining, which is huge. The Badgers are losing Danny Davis, Kendric Pryor, and tight end Jake Ferguson. That’s a lot of targets and receptions that the Badgers will be losing. Chimere Dike is the clear-cut favorite to be the top receiver for the Badgers next season. Markus Allen also showed some flashes at the end of the season. But after that, there is a lot of inexperience on the Wisconsin football team. I think Lewis should have a good chance at getting a decent amount of snaps next season.

Lewis played in all 12 games for UCLA last year as a true freshman but didn’t record a reception. He is a big receiver that stands 6’3″ and has some great athleticism.

As a prospect, Lewis was a 3-star recruit out of East Saint Louis, Illinois. He had over 25 scholarship offers from teams like UCLA, Auburn, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Oregon, Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, and more. Wisconsin did not offer Lewis last year.

According to 247Sports, Lewis was the 74th wide receiver and 481st overall.

With the addition of Lewis, the Badgers now have now added four players through the transfer portal: cornerbacks Justin Clark and Jay Shaw, kicker Vito Calvaruso, and now Lewis.

Lewis won’t be the only new face to the receiver room next year, however. They are also bringing in a pair of receivers as a part of their 2022 recruiting class; Tommy McIntosh and Vinny Anthony. The new-look receiving room for the Badgers is going to be young, but it definitely won’t be lacking talent.
