Wisconsin's top target right now is arguably Mekhi Williams, a 4-star defensive back from Florida. Williams recently took his visit to Madison, and after his visit, he decided to decommit from Florida State. It went quiet for the next day or so, and then an announcement was scheduled for tomorrow, June 3, at 4 pm CST. This bodes extremely well for Luke Fickell.

Look at the timeline, Williams committed to Florida State months ago, but Luke Fickell and Wisconsin continue to pursue, as do other schools like Nebraska and LSU. Fickell gets the first visit to Madison. That visit went so well, Williams spent half the visit posting about it and sharing pictures of himself in Wisconsin gear. While this isn't uncommon for recruits, it seemed more so.

Then he finished his visit, decommitted, and set his announcement days before he even takes any more official visits. It feels likely that he puts on a Wisconsin Badger hat. This site isn't the only one that thinks he will.

After Williams visited Wisconsin, not just one but four different recruiting insiders on 24/7 Sports put a crystal ball on him to choose the Badgers. Zach Blostein, Nick Osen, Kolby Crawford, and Jon McNamara all give a strong prediction that he's choosing Wisconsin.

If he does pick the Badgers tomorrow, he will immediately become the top-rated recruit in the class, passing up in-state players Korz Loken and Kingston Allen. Not by much, but Williams is rated a 92 (and some change) composite while Loken and Allen are right behind him. It would also boost the overall class to new heights.

The 2027 recruiting class is already impressive for Fickell, but adding Williams would be a big cherry on top, and all of these recruits would tell you, the job isn't finished. There are more recruits coming in the next month or two. For now, stay tuned to the Williams announcement tomorrow at 4 pm CST on CBS Sports College Football Youtube Channel.
