The 2028 recruiting class is following the wake of a huge 2027 cycle for Luke Fickell. The momentum is already starting to build for 2028, and after Bucky's BBQ, a bunch of the recruits present talked about how high Wisconsin is on their list. Fickell truly could be building something special with the recruiting department, and 2027 may not be a fluke.

4-star 2028 tight end Jordan McKinley is one of those recruits who walked away impressed. He gave Evan Flood of On3 a quote that will fire up Wisconsin fans: "I feel like a couple more visits down to that place, I might end up committing. You never know." You can bet that Wisconsin coaches are working hard to set up those next couple of visits.

McKinley is a 4-star tight end from Wilmette, Illinois, and is listed as the No. 12 tight end in the nation for his class and the No. 11 recruit in the state of Illinois. He's got offers from all over the place, with 25 and counting, including schools like Alabama, Florida, Colorado, Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M, and more.

That's not a list that Wisconsin fans are used to competing against in recruiting during the Luke Fickell era. However, in 2027, that changed, and Fickell was able to bring in 4-stars that had big-time offers from the top programs.

McKinley was part of the 2028 recruits that showed up for Bucky's BBQ, a yearly event that brings in top recruits as part of the future class. It's an event that has seen prospects turn into commits over the years. Not at the event itself, but it pays dividends down the road. 4-star Cole Reiter is one of those from this year's 2027 class who was at last year's event. There's momentum that's created at the BBQ.

For McKinley, there is a similar momentum building. For he didn't just drop that line for Evan Flood; he also told 24/7 Sports' Nick Osen, "I feel like the people, every time I get there, treat you better and better. I feel like Madison, Wisconsin is just a great place to be.”

2028 has very few 5-stars right now, and as the rankings adjust for these players' junior seasons in high school, it will be interesting to see how McKinley is ranked. His offers show that he's one of the more premier tight ends in the nation. While he may not end up being a 5-star, there are some who think he will boost his stock towards the top-10 tight end range and be a high 4-star.

As a composite, he's already a 4-star with a 90 rating on 24/7 Sports, and Rivals has him as an 89. Hopefully, Luke Fickell can get him back on campus and ultimately lock him up for the 2028 recruiting class.
