Wisconsin's top recruit, Mekhi Williams, was a former Florida State Seminoles commit. It took a lot of work, but the Badgers finally got him to flip to Wisconsin. That was a big moment as he became the highest-rated player in the 2027 recruiting class for Wisconsin. He's not just great for the class and Wisconsin, he's a top-rated player in the country and the No. 1 safety in the state of Florida.
Recently, Williams posted a recruiting graphic that Wisconsin made for him that said "Jump Around '27," and he told his social media that "he can't wait." It wasn't long before a Florida State fan jumped into his comments to say, "At least the door isn't closed at Florida State." Williams replied with another graphic, and this one was even more epic than the first. This graphic told the Florida State fan very clearly that there's no hope for a flip-back.
In that new graphic (you can see below), Williams is sitting on a Wisconsin throne holding a finger over his mouth (shhh) with locks on either side of him. The headline in the top right corner says "Locked In" and the phrase across the middle says "Recruitment shut down."

4-star Mekhi Williams silences any rumors that he could flip away from the Wisconsin Badgers

Williams has credited his relationships as one of the primary reasons he picked the Badgers. His relationship with defensive backs coach Robert Steeples has been instrumental in his decision to choose Wisconsin. He also has strong relationships with secondary coach Paul Haynes and, of course, head coach Luke Fickell.
It also helped that Williams felt at home with the other recruits in the class. He joined 17 other (now) Badgers on his recruiting weekend. That time in Madison, the relationships with the other recruits and the coaches closed the deal.
There were some rumors swirling that, as his stock continues to rise, other teams would eventually be able to get him to flip away from Wisconsin. Teams like LSU (who were heavily in on him) and Florida State (to whom he originally was committed). However, Williams has silenced that nonsense and says he's locked in as a Badger.
This is great news for the Badgers and something that Wisconsin fans may not be used to. Last season, Wisconsin had a 4-star running back, Amari Latimer, locked up for a very long time before Latimer decided to put his services into a bidding war in the fall. He eventually flipped to West Virginia, spurning the Badgers.

Wisconsin also lost Jayden Petit late in the cycle to the Oklahoma Sooners. So there's some PTSD about losing top-rated recruits, especially the ones that commit early in the offseason. However, Williams does seem to be all-in with the Badgers and "locked-in" as the top Wisconsin commit.
While signing day isn't until December, giving the Badger fans plenty of time to sweat this class, for now, it's amazing. It's better at this point than it's ever been.
