The Wisconsin Badgers have a good chunk of NFL players ,and with 12 UDFAs signed this offseason, there are truly a lot of former Badgers trying to make NFL rosters. While those 12 are mostly long shots, there are a few that could sneak onto a 53-man roster. There are also a couple of veterans that are at risk of being cut later this week.
Let's look at five players that are dancing right around the bubble.
1. Vinny Anthony II - Atlanta Falcons
The most intriguing story is Vinny Anthony II, a UDFA for the Falcons who was considered a long shot at first. However, as spring, rookie camp, and now the NFL preseason have come and gone, Anthony is truly on the bubble. He's showing up in some projections and not in others, which means he is on the line, at least according to experts.
Anthony's appeal for the Falcons is his ability to do multiple things. He can return kicks and provide depth at receiver. He has also already shown that he can get in and out of breaks at the NFL level and put together some production if called upon. Out of all the 12 UDFAs for the Badgers, he's the most likely to make an NFL roster.
2. Nyzier Fourqurean - Los Angeles Rams
The Rams have an interesting decision to make at cornerback. There are about five that are sure things in the crowded room, but that sixth spot is down to three players, with Fourqurean being one of them. He's received 75 snaps in two preseason games with eight total tackles, a forced fumble, and a pass defense. He's making a strong case, but he's currently still on the outside looking in of roster projections.
3. Dare Ogunbowale - Las Vegas Raiders
Ogunbowale was recently brought in by the Raiders, and he's fighting for that third or fourth running back spot. There's room for him on the roster, but it will be dependent on what the Raiders want to do with all 53 spots. He doesn't find himself on the 53-man projection by ESPN.
4. Isaiahh Loudermilk - Minnesota Vikings
This is a really strange one to include and shows the cutthroat nature of the NFL. Loudermilk was signed earlier this offseason by the Vikings in what appeared to be a promising contract. Yet, he's in a roster battle as the Vikings have a fairly crowded defensive line room. According to Purple Insider, the final decision will be between Elijah Williams and Loudermilk.
ESPN also does not have Loudermilk in its final prediction for the Vikings' 53-man roster. He will most likely land somewhere else, as he's a savvy and useful NFL veteran, but it initially appeared to be a good fit and signing for Loudermilk in Minnesota.
5. Darryl Peterson III - Los Angeles Rams
Peterson has shown a ton of promise as a rookie UDFA for the Rams, but he's a long shot to make the final roster. He may not even be truly on the bubble, and yet he's included because of how well he's played for the Rams. There's a strong chance that Los Angeles tries to sneak him onto their practice squad if he does get cut because of depth and his promising ability.
