It's hard to know what happened with Boston College transfer Joseph Griffin Jr. He came in as a highly rated wide receiver transfer. He was a 4-star recruit and had 43 catches for 579 yards and six touchdowns at Boston College. He was on the rise, but he came in 2024 and never saw the field. He then stayed this season, only getting one catch all year.

He was a Luke Fickell transfer that just never could quite find his way at Wisconsin, and much of it might be blamed on the quarterback situation for the Badgers, but either way, he's back in the transfer portal with another two years to play.

It's not surprising that Joseph Griffin Jr. entered into the portal for Luke Fickell because he disappeared on the depth chart and did not look like he would ever return. He still has two years left to play, so getting with a program he can succeed in has to be at the forefront of his mind.

It's just a bummer for the Badgers, as it was a miss in the portal. As Luke Fickell will need to bring in like 30 transfers this season, it's hard not to second-guess some of the previous portal pickups like Griffin. Maybe even the usage of him. It's hard to know.

However, Griffin serves as a reminder that things can change the college football world very quickly. One minute, he's rising high after two solid years at Boston College, the next, he's disappeared and trying to find another home. It's a reminder to Badger fans that Fickell will not hit a home run on every transfer, but hopefully, he hits enough to get the program finally headed in the right direction.
