Wisconsin Badger basketball fans were recently given a blast from the past, as former star wing AJ Storr announced that he will once again be moving schools, taking his talents to UNLV. This marks Storr’s ninth school in as many years, dating all the way back to his high school days. However, he may not actually be allowed to transfer, even with the newest ruling.

Storr averaged 15.5 points and 3.1 assists per game last season. https://t.co/DPpwUaobig https://t.co/SOzNt8aN3Q pic.twitter.com/aVYlHk0BA4
Nonetheless, it’s clear that Storr hasn’t been able to find a spot that complemented his skill set quite like his time in Madison — hence the constant moving around. With that said, Storr is still a very talented and valuable piece that UNLV will be happy to have — hopefully.
There's an Issue
Although the reports are clear that Storr intends on joining the Rebels, a stipulation in regard to the transfer rules for the group of 2022 high school graduates that were granted the extra year of eligibility may not allow him to land in a new home.
AJ Storr just committed to his NINTH school in nine years 🤯

Storr’s school history:
2018-19: Kankakee HS
2019-20: Bishop Gorman HS
2020-21: AZ Compass Prep
2021-22: IMG Academy
2022-23: St. John’s
2023-24: Wisconsin
2024-25: Kansas
2025-26: Ole Miss
2026-27: UNLV pic.twitter.com/MUG6Gabjy7
It’s not exactly clear as to if this stipulation will hold, but under the ruling from the Colorado judge that Storr was sealed in an injunction from, players were not allowed to enter the transfer portal. The only way for Storr to transfer to another school was to, well, transfer. The Colorado ruling gave Storr an extra year of eligibility... pending, of course, the Tenth Circuit approval. However, it didn't open the transfer portal window for these players. As far as has been public, Storr was not already in the portal.
This could very well be a small technicality, and UNLV is obviously not worried about it. It could already be cleared up or will be in the near future, but nonetheless, it’s another roadblock for the former Badger. All of college basketball’s chaos this offseason has made it very difficult for any team still seeking out players to understand who is eligible and who isn’t, with this situation being no exception.

More than likely, this situation will figure itself out, as it has become relatively clear that the ‘22 high school class will in fact be gifted the fifth year of eligibility, no matter how harshly the NCAA chooses to push back. How things will shake out for Storr specifically is still a bit of a mystery, as if he isn’t granted eligibility soon, UNLV could look elsewhere to replace him.
However, no matter where he lands, Storr will be able to make an impact. Even though he hasn’t been able to reach the same level of production that he saw in his lone year at Wisconsin, he proved to be malleable last year, accepting a bench role for Ole Miss and averaging 15.5 points and 3.9 rebounds per game in the process.
All in all, Storr’s story has been a fun one to track over the past decade — which is crazy to say — and it should only continue to add layers as time goes on.
