The stock is rising fast on longtime Wisconsin commit James (Trey) Roberson. The 3-star safety out of Allen, Texas, has seen a dramatic increase in his recruiting this past season, and his latest offer earlier this month from Alabama is a big one. Luke Fickell is working hard to keep him in the fold, all while Roberson is being courted by other big-time programs, especially in the South.
Roberson committed to Fickell and the Wisconsin Badgers back in the early part of June after a successful official visit. After the visit, he told Nick Osen of 24/7 Sports, "I got along with the players really well and have a really good relationship with Coach Coop. I feel like he is a great coach and will develop me well.”
Now, the Crimson Tide is lurking, but so are a couple of other programs, and it doesn't appear that Roberson has fully spurned those advances. Roberson has 36 offers, and 24/7 has only Alabama with a real chance to flip him right now. Others are trying too, and some have already tried after he committed to Wisconsin.

3 new schools have emerged in the pursuit of 3-star safety Trey Roberson

After visiting Wisconsin and making his formal pledge to be a Badger, Roberson finished off his official visits. He went to Mississippi State and UCF. However, neither of those programs was able to get him to flip. Yet, it's the Alabama offer and pursuit that should really put concern in the hearts of Badger fans hoping to keep Roberson in the fold.
According to BamaHammer.com, "Alabama will look to get [Roberson] on campus in the coming weeks for a game-day visit, which could put them in a position to flip him away from the Badgers." If we know Roberson's track record, he doesn't mind taking the visits; the big question is: can Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide do what Mississippi State and UCF couldn't do (or have yet to do) and get Roberson to flip?
That will be the big question. And Fickell will also work to keep him in the fold with a new gameday visit. He's part of an important recruiting class for the Badgers. It's a top-25 class with an intriguing list of players including a bunch of in-state stars. Roberson is one of a decent collection of out-of-staters that Fickell has been able to convince to be part of the class.
Wisconsin's top commit in the class is another safety like Roberson, Mekhi Williams, a 4-star recruit who spurned offers from all the major players. Hopefully, Roberson is able to do the same. Keep the SEC programs out of the running, as the commitment to Wisconsin and Luke Fickell stays solid.
As the high school football season is ongoing, a lot of players like Roberson are popping up on the board for other programs as they notice new talent around the country.
