Last season, it was Nigel Hayes-Davis who stole the show in the EuroLeague eventually winning the Final Four MVP on the way to a championship. This year, it's been another former Badger: Nathan Reuvers. Or, as Wisconsin fans got to know him, Nate Reuvers.
Reuvers was unstoppable in the Round of 35, helping Valencia beat Virtus Bologna 94-81. It was Reuvers who not only gave his team the spark but ultimately sealed the deal for the team, and that earned him MVP honors for the round. His stat line was 33 points and 10 rebounds. He also set a club record with a 44 PIR (Performance Index Rating), a specific EuroLeague analytical stat.
It's a formula that factors in basically everything. PIR = (Points + Rebounds + Assists + Steals + Blocks + Fouls drawn) – (Missed field goals + Missed free throws + Turnovers + Shots rejected + Fouls committed). 44 is a really high efficiency mark by Reuvers. It was also the highest in the EuroLeague this season.
That stat line goes crazy 🫡

Valencia needed his big performance as the team needed the victory to keep chase in the top four of the playoff standings. The way the playoffs work in the EuroLeague, finishing in the top 4 matters. So, Reuvers lifted his team when it needed him most.
Wisconsin once again gets the spotlight as one of its former players is making headlines in the EuroLeague. Reuvers played for Wisconsin and Greg Gard from 2019 to 2021 and went undrafted to the NBA. So he took his services overseas, and it's really working out well for him. He recently signed a contract extension with Valencia that will pay him through 2028.
That contract is already paying dividends for the club as he's helping push them closer and closer to the playoffs.
