Wisconsin is now losing its second veteran linebacker in as many weeks. Last week, it was junior linebacker who came from USC, Tackett Curtis; now it's star Christian Alliegro. It only continues to show that Luke Fickell is fully handing the keys over to true freshmen Mason Posa and Cooper Catalano. However, it is a loss of a veteran and just when he was hitting his senior year.

Alliegro came to Wisconsin as a 3-star recruit out of Connecticut and has played all three years for the Badgers. He never took a redshirt season as he was called upon as a true freshman. In his first season, he had five tackles and one sack, but played in every single game.

It was his sophomore year when things really clicked for him. He became a rotating starter and had 66 total tackles with three sacks. He had a 16-tackle game against Iowa, flying all over the field. This year, his production dipped as he was forfeiting some of his role to Mason Posa, and he only had 49 tackles and four sacks.

He essentially lost his starting spot by the season's end, getting only two tackles, one tackle, and two tackles in his final three games. The writing was on the wall that he would find a new home for his senior season at that point.

He's still an insanely productive linebacker, and it wouldn't surprise any Badger fan if he goes somewhere else and puts up huge numbers. He may have lost his spot to a star true freshman, but he's still a top-end linebacker in the FBS and will have no problem finding a new place to play for next season.
