Wisconsin football is not even to their spring showcase, and there have already been two players who have decided that playing for the Badgers is not for them. Now, this isn't surprising considering that tomorrow (Wednesday, April 16) the spring entry for the transfer portal opens. However, it is surprising that the two players who have decided to move on are players who have never even taken one snap with the Badgers. Both players came in the winter and they are leaving by spring. What many are affectionately calling the "double-transfer."

A few days ago, it was publicized that Wisconsin's top incoming transfer, Tanner Koziol, is going to re-enter the portal. Now, today, Mark Hamper will follow him out the door after coming in the winter.

WR Mark Hamper is leaving Wisconsin in the spring transfer portal after coming in the winter portal

Mark Hamper is a wide receiver who chose to play for Luke Fickell and the Wisconsin Badgers in the winter after leaving the Idaho Vandals. He amassed 48 receptions for 966 yards and 6 touchdowns in his freshman year at Idaho. He used that start to his career to receive high major interest, but something about the fit at Wisconsin made him decide to move on.

The double-transfer is now plaguing the Badgers, who were able to lure two pass catchers in Koziol and Hamper, but watch them go before catching a pass. This assures that Luke Fickell will look again in the spring portal for more players. There is also a good chance that other players will enter the portal off the Wisconsin football roster.

The next few weeks could be a bit of a circus for college football, and Wisconsin is no exception. The hard part for Luke Fickell and staff is that the spring showcase is on Saturday, April 19. Hopefully, he has a good handle on who is going before entering Saturday.
