Wisconsin isn't done upgrading and adding from the transfer portal. It may be closed for entries, but there are still plenty of players who haven't landed yet. One of the players still looking for a program to commit to was former 4-star wide receiver from the Oklahoma Sooners, Zion Kearney was one of those. However, on a visit today to Madison, he decided to commit to Luke Fickell and the Badgers.
Luke Fickell has now pulled in four total wide receivers from the portal as he rebuilds and upgrades the position. Let's look into who he's got and how Kearney fits in.

Kearney is a former 4-star recruit out of Missouri City, Texas. He's spent the last two seasons with the Sooners but has been marginally used, with only 10 receptions, 159 yards, and 2 touchdowns. Yet, similar to the most recent addition (Malachi Coleman), Fickell is adding a high-ceiling player and taking a gamble, as the wide receiver unit won't be made or broken by Kearney's production.
Fickell has added four wide receivers: Shamar Rigby from Oklahoma State. Jaylon Domingeaux from SE Louisiana, Malachi Coleman from Minnesota, and now Kearney.
Wisconsin is also returning Chris Brooks Jr., Tyrell Henry, and Eugene Hilton Jr. (as the players with previous production). That gives them a pretty solid room, but not a perfect room. They will need at least a couple of the above players to hit in terms of production. The most productive player from the newbies and current Badgers in terms of best season of stats is Shamar Rigby, who had 351 yards (last year).
However, Fickell has brought in a few that have extremely high ceilings, like Hilton, Coleman, and now Kearney (in terms of high school recruiting). It's a gamble, but it does feel like one of these players will emerge in 2026.
