Luke Fickell and the Wisconsin Badgers have landed cornerback D'Yoni Hill from Miami. The defensive back announced his commitment on social media Sunday afternoon.
Hill played two years for Marshall where he enjoyed great success on the field. During his sophomore year Hill registered 55 tackles, 10 pass breakups, an interception and a forced fumble. He then transferred to Miami this past season, and with the Hurricanes had 33 tackles in a reserve role.
The 6-0 defensive back was originally a three-star recruit out of high school, and was the 10th best corner still available in the portal according to 247Sports. The former high school track star will bring some serious speed and athleticism to the Badger secondary in their effort to rebuild a decimated group.
Wisconsin Adds D'Yoni Hill to Help Boost Secondary
The Florida native is now the second cornerback to join the Badgers via the portal after Geimere Latimer from Jacksonville State committed last week. After losing most of the room to the transfer portal, leaving only Ricardo Hallman and Jay Harper on the roster, Fickell and company were in dire need to rebuild the secondary. The addition of Hill will be a key part of that effort moving forward.
The team has been extremely active in the portal and now sits at 19 new commitments. The class as a whole currently ranks 10th overall in 247's rankings as Fickell will undoubtedly continue to add more. The Badgers hosted cornerback Andrew Wilson-Lamp on a visit this weekend.
