The Wisconsin Badgers volleyball team is reloading this offseason and looking for a tremendous 2025 volleyball season in which they make a run to the National Championship. Head coach Kelly Sheffield had to dig into the portal as he watched many of his best front-line players graduate from Wisconsin. Sheffield did an amazing job by adding three impressive players via transfer, and the Badgers are arguably in a better place than they were last season.
Emily Ehman says that Wisconsin won the transfer portal with three important front-line additions.
The Big Ten Network posted a video on their social media today in which volleyball analyst Emily Ehman declares that Wisconsin did the best in the portal. She explained how each of the three players that the Badgers added improved the team. You should watch the whole video above, but here are some of the best quotes from Ehman for each of the three additions.
Grace Egan - Outside Hitter - Transfer from Ohio State
"[Egan] is a phenomenal all-around player who can rack up points but also provides a ton of stability on defense and serve receives. Badger fans will remember her well as she as she actually put up a career-high 22 kills against Wisconsin. "Emily Ehman
Egan is young in terms of eligibility and will have three years left to play for the Badgers, but she is already one of the best players in the Big Ten. She will immediately step in with a huge role for Wisconsin.
Grace Lopez - Outside Hitter - Transfer from Miami
Lopez is another outside hitter who plays on the opposite side and will be part of the wall for Wisconsin. She was an honorable mention AVCA All-American in the past two seasons and, once again, will be stepping right into a major role for the Badgers.
"She can do it all. She has an insanely tough lefty top spin serve. "Emily Ehman
Mimi Colyer - Outside Hitter - Transfer from Oregon
Lastly, the Badgers added one of the top players in the country, Mimi Colyer. She is a three-time All-American award winner. The Badgers saved the top transfer for last as Colyer entered late when her head coach at Oregon left for the same position at Kansas.
"She's a physical outside with an insanely power arm who led the Ducks in kills in each of her three seasons in Eugene. "Emily Ehman
The Wisconsin Badgers are looking to make a deeper run next season, and it starts with winning the portal, which will transition into winning games and the Big Ten title. Sheffield isn't messing around, and he's ready for a big 2025 season with these three transfers.
