On Saturday, the Wisconsin Badgers got back into the win column with a 90-73 drubbing of the Washington Huskies. Super sub Braeden Carrington was sensational against the Huskies, scoring a career-high 32 points off the bench and hitting a school record nine three-pointers on fifteen attempts in Seattle.

After the game, Carrington gave a quote to the media that, while harmless on the surface, might have been a shot at the fanbase of one of his former schools.

Braeden Carrington says Wisconsin has the best fanbase he's ever played for

During the game, there was an audible section of Wisconsin fans chanting “Let’s Go Badgers” at American Airlines Arena. As the Badgers pulled away from the Huskies in the second half, those chants grew louder.

When asked about the Badger fans in Seattle, Carrington has this to say, via Nick Osen of Badger247:

"I mean, it's great, you know, it's the best fan base I have gotten to play for in my four years. So it's also, you know, when you're in those huddles and you hear the 'Let's go Badger chants', it's fun, you know, it feels like you're somewhat home, you know, feels like you're not too far away from home. You know, it's great.”

So why does this feel like a subtle shot toward Minnesota? Yes, and he wouldn't be shy about it. If you remember, Carrington, a former Gopher from 2022-24, was on the record stating that playing Minnesota twice a season was a factor in his decision to come to Wisconsin. In addition, his departure from Minnesota to Tulsa was “wasn't necessarily a good parting” between him and the program.

For your viewing pleasure, there are a handful of Gopher fans who have some, shall we say, less than pleasant responses to Heilprin’s tweet.

Carrington’s energy off the bench has provided a major spark this season for the Badgers. His being a former Gopher now on the right side of the Wisconsin-Minnesota has to make this season much sweeter.
