The Indianapolis Colts were able to grab arguably the best player the Wisconsin Badgers had to offer last season in safety Hunter Wohler in the seventh round. Feels like a steal for the Colts. He was selected with the 232nd overall pick and will prove he belongs on the NFL roster in his first season.
He's a tackle machine with explosive ability toward the ball, and whether he starts on special teams or as part of the defensive rotation, he's going to impress. However, many fans noticed something right away with how the Indianapolis Colts announced drafting him. See if you see what is different in the social media post below:

Hunter Wohler is now listed as a linebacker by the Indianapolis Colts
Hunter Wohler came out of high school as one of the top defensive backs in his class. Winning the 2021 Gatorade State Player of the Year award for the state of Wisconsin. He played the safety position throughout his years at Wisconsin and was arguably the best defensive player for the Badgers for multiple years in a row.
The Colts' decision to move him to a linebacker position is a bit surprising but not overly shocking, considering his style of play. He is notably aggressive and physical and has no issue getting up towards the line of scrimmage and being a force. He led the team in tackles in 2024 with 71, led the Badgers in tackles, and all defensive backs in the Big Ten in tackles in 2023 with 120. He's a tackling machine, and maybe that's why he projects for the Colts as a linebacker.

Here is his RAS score at linebacker (via @MathBomb) pic.twitter.com/HJpvF83YlZ
According to RAS (Relative Athletic Score), Wohler projects really strongly as a linebacker, with a score of 9.25 out of 10. His height, weight, and broad jump are the only things listed as less than "great." He scored 9.26 as a safety, so it's relatively a wash.
He is likely to start as a special team player, it will be interesting to see how the Colts utilize him and whether he remains a linebacker or eventually slides back to safety in their system.
