The Phoenix Suns hosted their annual media day ahead of training camp and the 2025-2026 season, and former Badger Nigel Hayes-Davis stole the show. Fans were excited about how he presented himself and what he brings to the team. The 30-year-old veteran didn't quite make it in the NBA his first time through after leaving Wisconsin, but with a stint overseas, he's back and ready to prove he belongs.

Hayes-Davis gives a great interview. He answers with a high level of emotional intelligence, as well as a strong basketball IQ. He also has an uncanny ability to capture moments and understand the journey. That's part of what has endeared him to Phoenix Suns fans. He even spoke during the media days interview that he is documenting the entire day for his YouTube channel because he doesn't want to forget it.
"In one interview process appeared to be everything the Suns hoped he could be in a veteran presence in their locker-room. Somebody who won't get too down if they have a losing streak, and can act as a mentor to the younger guys."Luke Duffy, ValleyOfTheSuns.com
Wisconsin fans have been on the outside looking in as they've watched one of their former stars revive his career overseas. Where he became an international star, helping his team win the EuroLeague championship and becoming the MVP in the process. That success has earned him another chance in the NBA.
The Phoenix Suns jumped at the opportunity, and according to Luke Duffy of the Valley of the Suns, Hayes-Davis will help with the mentoring of their young team. His personality and ability to understand will help players like Jalen Green find their way to better success in the league.
Hats off to Hayes-Davis as he's not only revived his career in the NBA, but he's become a fan favorite wherever he goes. This time it's with the Phoenix Suns.
