Former Badger Camren Hunter just received a huge award yesterday as he was named ASUN Player of the Year. He has been a star for Central Arkansas all season and has helped the Bears to a 15-3 conference record, tied for first in the ASUN. He left Wisconsin after struggling to find minutes, and now he's getting all the minutes he can handle as he's pushing for an NCAA Tournament appearance with the ASUN tournament victory.

Hunter averaged 19.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists on the year. He's had 14 games with 20+ points and five games with 30+ points. He's electric, and his return to Central Arkansas from Wisconsin was one of the best moves he's made in his college career.

The story of Camren Hunter is an interesting one because he actually started his college career at Central Arkansas, where he played from 2021 to 2023 (two seasons), and he was one of the better players in the ASUN with back-to-back years of 14+ points a game. That led him to seek an opportunity at a high major. However, at Wisconsin, he couldn't find his way into the game besides in "eat the clock" moments.

He only averaged 2.1 minutes for Wisconsin in his lone year (last season) as a Badger. He decided to transfer back to Central Arkansas. That was the perfect decision, as Hunter has now won the most prestigious individual award in the conference.

Hunter's eyes are now set on winning the ASUN Tournament so he can play in the NCAA Tournament. The ASUN gets one auto-bid from their conference championship. The ASUN men's basketball tournament starts today, but Central Arkansas won't play until tomorrow as they earned the No. 1 overall seed in a tie-breaker with Austin Peay.
