NFL Free Agency is underway as the legal tempering period begins, and one former Badger has already cashed in.
After getting released from the Miami Dolphins, fullback Alec Ingold was quickly scooped up by the Los Angeles Chargers. His new deal is for two years and worth $7.5 million, making him once again the highest-paid full back in the NFL according to Tom Pelissero.

Former Badger Alec Ingold cashes in again early in NFL Free Agency
Ingold will join the Chargers after stints with Miami and Las Vegas, and will be tied with San Francisco's Kyle Juszczyk for the highest-pad fullback in the NFL. He was already made the highest paid fullback once before, when in 2023 he signed a three-year, $12.2 million dollar deal with the Dolphins.
With 35 career rushes and 75 catches over seven years, Ingold is a versatile player who can do more than just block. He'll reunite with his former head coach Mike McDaniel, who also joined the Chargers this offseason after getting fired by Miami. Ingold is just one of many former Badgers who have found success despite an atypical route.
At Wisconsin, Ingold was initially a linebacker before making the switch to fullback. There he blossomed, notching 17 rushing touchdowns on 103 attempts. He eventually went undrafted, as most fullbacks do, but found success with the Raiders. Now, he's once again at the top of his position. It's not too disimilar to J.J. Watt, who joined Wisconsin as a walk-on tight end before becoming one of the greatest edge rushers of all-time.
Earlier this week, former Badger center Tyler Biadasz signed a new deal with the Chargers as well, reuniting him with former Wisconsin teammate Alec Ingold. Another former Badger, linebacker Leo Chenal, could be in line for a big payday as well as free agency rages on.
