The Eagles found a diamond in the rough, buried on the New Orleans Saints' depth chart, Philadelphia signed Zack Baun to a prove-it deal. He did exactly that, he proved it and then some. He quickly became one of the best linebackers in the NFL and a Super Bowl champion. There was no way the Eagles were going to let him walk in the offseason. He signed a historic deal that will keep the former Badger in Philadelphia.
Just in: The #Eagles are re-signing LB Zack Baun to a 3-year, $51M contract, keeping him in Philadelphia and off the free agent market, per @AdamSchefter. Baun was set to be a top FA next week, but Philly prioritized getting him back. 💰 pic.twitter.com/NoQAZeNxA0

Eagles signed former Wisconsin LB Zack Baun to a huge extension
It was announced today that Baun signed a 3-year extension that will pay him $51 million. This makes him one of the highest paid linebackers in the league. It's historic for a story like Baun to happen in the modern NFL. To go from depth piece to star, literally overnight. Baun did it and in many ways continues to prove that Wisconsin is LBU.
The Eagles haven't released the exact terms of the contract, but they did post an amazing social media graphic that reads, "The Bald Eagle is back!" Which is both wonderful and hilarious.

Eagles fans and Badger fans are equally rejoicing this amazing deal as Philadelphia fans get to continue to see the middle of their defense locked up and locked down. Wisconsin fans on the other hand get to celebrate the success of one of the most beloved former Badgers that are active in the NFL. His story proves that it's never too late to prove people wrong and make a name for yourself.
Baun is now a Super Bowl Champion, a Wisconsin legend, an All-Pro, and now super rich because of his play on the field. There is more coming to this story at least through 2027 and Wisconsin fans will be eating up every minute of his success.
