More adversity has arrived for former Wisconsin football standout Hunter Wohler and in an unfortunate turn of events, his first pro season is already over. Over the weekend, Wohler went down with a foot injury in a Colts preseason game.
He was a seventh-round pick for Indianapolis, a moment he'll surely never forget. Wohler was impressing coaches both during camp and early preseason action. It made it seem like he was going to have no issues making the Week 1 roster. However, he suffered a serious foot injury vs. the Packers just a few days ago and he has since been placed on Injured Reserve:
Colts seventh-round pick Hunter Wohler, who was on track to get playing time on defense this season, has been placed on IR with a foot injury. His season is now over. An absolutely brutal stretch of secondary injuries continues.

Hunter Wohler being placed on IR is a huge blow for the former Wisconsin star
Again, you've really got to feel bad for Wohler. He was doing everything possible to make an impact for the Colts this season. Normally when a guy is drafted in the seventh round, he becomes a bit of a forgotten player and not much is expected of him once the regular season arrives.
If anything, people probably assumed he was going to be cut and not have a shot at making the 53-man roster. Instead, Wohler put on his hard hat and he went to work for the Colts with the exact same mindset that made him such a stud while suiting up in Madison.
Wohler has always been known as a great teammate too, which only made it even easier for people to root for him. Now, Wohler is going to have to work his tail off in his rehab in hopes that he can come back even stronger and still be a playmaker for the Colts.
It's easy to understand that he might be a bit down in the dumps after this latest setback, however. He was doing everything right and was all set to be a key figure for the Indianapolis secondary in 2025. That's no longer going to be the case, as Wisconsin fans will now have to wait until '26 to see him back in action.
