It would be a massive understatement to say the Philadelphia Eagles struck gold last offseason when the NFC powerhouse signed former Wisconsin Badgers standout linebacker Zack Baun to a one-year deal. Yup, Baun has been an absolute stud, looking like an All-Pro talent.
Oh, and he's doing so on a $3.5 million contract he signed with the team last March. It's safe to say that Baun has earned himself a monster new deal for next offseason, but before that time comes, he's busy making head-turning plays for Philly.
Thus far this campaign, with one more regular season game to go, Baun has posted 151 total tackles, five forced fumbles and 3.5 sacks. Would you believe it if we told you he has made NFL history in the process? Well, believe it:
Former Wisconsin star Zack Baun is having a historic season with the Eagles
Baun has been nothing short of spectacular for the Eagles this campaign and it's exciting to see. He has gone from an underrated 'backer to one of the best in the league. Things are only made better for him with Philly winning the NFC East and the team being in a prime position to go on a deep postseason run.
It has felt like whenever the Eagles defense has needed someone to step up with a big stop, Baun has been there to deliver. This is something Badgers fans aren't surprised about, as he was an unreal talent for the program during his college days.
Baun suited up for Wisconsin from 2016-2019, recording 154 total tackles, 15 sacks and two interceptions during his time in Madison. He overcame injury adversity while with the team too, making him an easy guy to root for. Not many people in Wisconsin are going to be cheering for the Eagles in the playoffs, but you better believe UW supporters will be hoping Baun continues to ball out at such a high level.
