Things may not be going according to plan for Luke Fickell and Wisconsin right now, but that doesn't mean things are all doom and gloom for the program. On the recruiting front, it's going to be a big weekend for the Oregon game. Who knows, maybe a miracle on the field will be posted.

With that said, despite the Badgers at 5-4, plenty of fans are also keeping an eye on former playmakers who have left Madison and gone on to have terrific careers in the NFL. These days, linebacker Zack Baun has been looking sensational for the Eagles.

Over the past three weeks, Baun has been the highest-rated LB according to Pro Football Focus. Following a strong showing in the Week 12 Philly win over Dallas, Baun also took home NFC Defensive Player of the week honors. He's putting on a show and the rest of the country is taking notice:

Former Wisconsin LB Zack Baun was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week

Baun indeed was a monster against the Cowboys, posting eight tackles, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one tackle for loss. He was a nightmare for the Dallas offense to try and deal with. Hey, give props to Baun, as he arrived to the Eagles as an underrated playmaker.

Now, though, he is proving to be one of the best free-agent signings for a team last offseason, as the Eagles were able to land him on a cheap one-year, $1.6 million deal. With the way he has played in 2024, Baun is set to get a huge contract once he hits free agency again.

The Eagles would be wise to get an extension with him done in the near future. Baun was a standout for Wisconsin, arriving in 2016 and playing his final year with the Big Ten powerhouse in 2019. It's awesome to see him playing so well at the next level. He'll be someone people in Madison always root for.
