Over the past week, we've seen countless players enter the transfer portal, only to find their new homes shortly after. For quarterback Myles Burkett, this wasn't the first time he decided to transfer, as he previously signed with Wisconsin before making his way to Albany.
After putting up some huge numbers while being the starter there, the Wisconsin native opened things up once again. On Sunday night, Burkett took to social media to announce that he'll be taking his game to Eastern Kentucky.
Former Wisconsin quarterback Myles Burkett has committed to Eastern Kentucky
Burkett originally signed with Wisconsin as a member of the 2022 class. However, he was buried on the depth chart and he knew that if he wanted a chance at seeing significant playing time, he was going to have to leave Madison for that.
Before going down with an ankle injury late in the season, Burkett started nine games for Albany in 2024, posting 1,845 passing yards and 10 touchdowns. He received plenty of interest after he was officially in the portal, but Burkett decided that EKU is the best fit for him moving forward.
As for the Badgers and Luke Fickell, this team is looking for a new QB in the portal too, as Braedyn Locke and Tyler Van Dyke won't be back next season. The team is showing strong interest in Danny O'Neil and Billy Edwards Jr., who previously played for San Diego State and Maryland, respectively.
With the Jeff Grimes hire made too, Wisconsin is going to want to move quickly to find its new starter for the 2025 campaign. The hope is that Fickell and Co. can get a commitment from a new QB1 in the near future. We're still waiting to see where Locke and Van Dyke will end up, but Burkett indeed is Eastern Kentucky-bound.
