Throughout the rough 2024 season for the Wisconsin Badgers, it was normal to see former players voice their displeasure with the program on social media. Not long ago, Wisconsin legend J.J. Watt called out the state of the program, stating there was no identity under Luke Fickell.
Easy to agree with that. On Friday, though, multiple former players were simply distraught watching Minnesota dominate play in Madison. The Badgers entered the game 5-6 and a 22-year bowl streak was on the line. Instead of playing with fire, Wisconsin looked sluggish.
For this team to finish a campaign 5-7 and on a five-game losing streak is rough. This feels like rock bottom and it's going to be a long offseason. For guys like Braelon Allen, seeing the program in this position is something they never want to happen again.
Braelon Allen and multiple other former Wisconsin players were not happy on Friday
Allen, a fourth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, remains close with plenty of his former teammates. He was watching the rivalry game against Minnesota, hoping his 'dawgs' would be able to close out the regular season in style, but that didn't happen. Allen wasn't the only one unhappy to see Minnesota put on a show in Madison:
That's only a small sample size of people who were frustrated with what happened on the gridiron. This feels like a major setback for Wisconsin. Fickell said the team would accept a bowl invite if it were to come in, but is this something the Badgers should even consider?
Going to a bowl game after finishing 5-7 wouldn't sit well with a lot of people. Wisconsin doesn't deserve to play another game, plain and simple. This group had the chance to capture win No. 6, but they blew it against Minnesota. Because of that, former players are sick and Fickell is getting a ton of hate from livid Wisconsin fans too.
