Wisconsin has had a star emerge in Ohio State transfer Grace Egan. She's been electric for the Badgers so far this season and is responsible for 71 kills, 18 blocks, and nine aces. Yet, she didn't come out for the Rutgers game in the Big Ten opener, and now Wisconsin fans are learning about an injury that happened earlier this week in practice.
Head coach Kelly Sheffield said that Egan suffered a "small injury and will be out for a small period of time." She will not play against Iowa. It was reported that Egan suffered a knee injury in practice this week.
The big question may be, who takes her place?
Grace Egan not warming up with @BadgerVB tonight. Injured knee in practice this week. Extent of injury not known. (Not actually working tonight)

With Grace Egan is out, Wisconsin will lean on freshman Madison Quest
Sheffield turned to freshman Madison Quest to start the game in Egan's place. Quest is a local product from Pewaukee, Wisconsin. She was a finalist for the 2025 National Player of the Year award and was one of the top players in the country during her senior year.
Quest is also part of a deep Badger family. Her father, Matthew, played basketball at Wisconsin, and her mother, Pauline, played volleyball for the Badgers. Quest is part of a good athletic family and is what you would call a Badger through and through.
She hasn't had a ton of opportunities this year as she cycles in off the bench, but in her limited time, she has 13 kills and 13 digs. She even has an impressive seven blocks to add to her season stats. She started the Rutgers game and immediately made an impact.
Making an impact right away in her first start! 😆#OnWisconsin || @madison_quest pic.twitter.com/qbCvye9Yqq

Egan will be missed even though Quest is formidable in her absence. The veteran presence and aggressive presence are something that the Badgers have learned to rely on. Hopefully, she will return with only a limited number of games missed.
