Former Wisconsin Badger Max Lofy would tell you that he's a walking miracle. His last year has been absolutely a detour in what he thought would be happening in his life, and yet he is feeling grateful through it all. Yesterday, Lofy posted on social media that he successfully made it through heart surgery after a scare doing a medical evaluation last spring caused him to retire medically.

There's a bit more to the story...

Max Lofy posts on social media that he had successful heart surgery

Max Lofy played for the Wisconsin Badgers from 2021-2024 and was a starting cornerback on the defense in both his sophomore and junior seasons. After that junior season, he made the tough decision to hit the transfer portal and look for another home. However, that decision is actually what saved his life.

He chose to transfer to Rice University and in the process of being medically cleared in the transfer procedures by Rice, they noticed something off on his EKG. Then he was subjected to a series of tests before they doctors and Lofy decided it wouldn't be safe to play football. His heart wasn't working right, it wasn't pumping blood the way it was supposed to. You can read the whole story on BadgerExtra.com.

That decision to go to Rice may have cost him his football career, but it saved his life. Now, after going through all the hurdles, Lofy was finally able to have the surgery his heart needed. It was great to see his social media post, "Successful heart surgery at 23!! Praise God and His miracles."

Lofy will probably never be able to play football again, but his story still has a positive ending. When an extra season may have cost him his life, a decision to transfer to Rice ended up saving it.
