Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard may not be done with his 2025 class after all. Yesterday, Mr. Basketball in Minnesota (an award given to the best player in the state), Nolan Groves, decommitted from Yale University. He is now looking at other opportunities, with Texas Tech being an early favorite for his services. However, both Wisconsin and Minnesota jumped at offering him a scholarship as soon as his recruitment reopened.

2025 Nolan Groves has reopened his recruitment and is considering Wisconsin, among others

Nolan Groves is a pretty unheralded recruit out of Minnesota. He is currently unranked by 24/7, but he's drawing high major interest, which means that will probably change shortly. He's 6'5 "and can stretch the wing from an explosive take to the hoop to a three-point shot. He plays for Orono High School, where he averaged 34.1 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 6 assists per game, which is why his recruitment is picking up in a major way.

Right now, the only programs to submit offers to him are Yale (still), Texas Tech, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. He seems to be considering only the final three schools, already setting up a visit to Texas Tech for next weekend, which is why the Red Raiders are the current team to beat and may have even been part of why he decided to reopen his recruitment.

However, Greg Gard isn't out of the race. He is known to swoop into Minnesota and grab the best players in the state. He had five players from last year's Wisconsin team who are products of Minnesota: Nolan Winter, Jack Janicki, Steven Crowl, Daniel Freitag, and Jack Robinson.

We thought the 2025 recruiting class may have been closed, but Greg Gard seemingly would love to add another player, especially a great player and scorer like Nolan Groves.
