Former Wisconsin Badger in the athletics department and a name that has popped up for the open Badgers athletic director search, just went on a wild rant against the SEC and the Big Ten. Jamie Pollard is getting closer to retirement and probably wasn't a real option for the Badgers, but maybe even more so now that he has revealed his true thoughts about the Big Ten.
Pollard was speaking about how the Big Ten and SEC have decided not to adhere to the College Sports Commission. "If you didn't want rules, then why did you create this entity? That's what's frustrating to me, the same people that say they want rules only want rules if they don't apply to them..."
Jamie Pollard expresses his frustration with the Big Ten and SEC for not adhering to the rules of the College Sports Commission. He adds he would be okay with the two conferences splitting from the NCAA.

Pollard is the athletic director for the Iowa State Cyclones, a position he's held for a long time now and one he got after he left Wisconsin. He's now a major advocate for the Big 12 and college sports in general. The Big Ten and SEC are basically in cahoots on most major things and steering the rest of the college sports in whatever direction those two want. This is a major part of Pollard's frustrations.
Pollard says to let the two conferences leave. They've threatened it, and now everyone should let it happen. "Let them go, but they have to go in all their sports and see how fun it is to play baseball and softball and track when it's just the 20 of you. That's what I think we should do," He said, but he's just one voice, and everyone else needs to buy into this idea.
Pollard may not be thinking as clearly as he expresses, as it does sound a bit like an old man yelling at a cloud. Because everything would unravel if they truly let the Big Ten and the SEC leave, however, letting the two conferences dictate everything is very clearly frustrating to other athletic directors and conferences.
What's the solution? Who knows, that's for others to figure out, but his rant against the Big Ten won't endear him to the open Wisconsin athletic director job anytime soon. While he's probably not interested anyway with his desire to retire in the next few years, he basically fully removed himself now with his anger towards the Big Ten.
