The Wisconsin Badgers’ receiver room is undoubtedly its biggest question heading into the 2026-27 season. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as Wisconsin has undoubtedly allocated resources into both developing and acquiring solid play from the position. With that said, the question of who will emerge as the alpha of the room remains.
A couple of guys have emerged as candidates, with most of the Badger fandom’s eyes drifting toward Eugene Hilton Jr. or Malachi Coleman as the most likely subjects. Both obviously have a great chance of overtaking that role, but possibly the most obvious go-to guy Wisconsin has just happens to be the guy with the most productive prior experience as well.

That guy is Jaylon Domingeaux, a Southeast Louisiana transfer and one of the more appealing players on the roster. The 6-foot-3, 208-pound senior provides both the frame of a traditional X receiver and the pedigree of someone who can carry that No. 1 load. Over his three seasons with the Lions, Domingeaux racked up106 catches for 1,512 yards and 14 touchdowns.His last season there, however, is when he really came on, snagging 52 passes for 857 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Now, as I'm sure we all know, production isn’t always something that can translate seamlessly, especially when going from the low-major, FCS level all the way up to the best of the best in the Big Ten. However, it seems as if, at least from practice reports, Domingeaux hasn’t had much of an issue asserting himself at this level either, consistently being a guy who can make big-time plays.
Translating Up
As for what to expect from him production-wise, Wisconsin fans should have tempered expectations. The receiver room in general is one that is going to provide a lot of opportunity to a lot of different guys, meaning that, especially early on, opportunities for everyone may be somewhat limited.

However, as the year goes on and the competition continues to climb, the Badgers will need one or two guys from the receiving crop to emerge as reliable targets — something Domingeaux could very well be. The red zone should be a spot that Wisconsin is fine in, given its plethora of capable running backs and depth at tight end. However, the Badgers will need guys who can separate on obvious passing downs and serve as a threat in general.
It’s hard to put a number on what to expect from Domingeaux, as it isn’t abundantly clear as of now how the pecking order will shake up. If he can be in that 400-plus-yard range with a handful of touchdowns, then Wisconsin fans should be happy with what they got.
