JJ Watt absolutely shames Real Salt Lake City while hyping up wife Kealia

JJ Watt is not going to take any erasure about his wife, Kealia, no matter if it was intentional or unintentional. He is going viral today for reminding Real Salt Lake who his wife is after the team's social media account posted a picture of the Watt family walking out of a tunnel at America First Field. The post said, "Welcome to the Riot, JJ Watt and fam" with a starstruck emoji. Watt wasn't having the fact that his wife wasn't mentioned.

He quickly shamed the account by explaining how big a deal Kealia is, especially in the area and in the sport. He said, "The woman in the photo [Kealia] grew up literally down the road, won 4 Utah State championships (1 in this exact stadium), Gatorade Player of the Year twice, National Player of the Year, scored the fastest first goal in USWNT history... Could probably be worth a mention, but idk."

Yikes... see the post below:

JJ is not wrong; his wife, Kealia, was a star soccer player at literally every level. She was a star high school player in Utah, a star at the University of North Carolina, and went on to play professionally for the Houston Dash and the Chicago Red Stars. Kealia also played internationally for the United States throughout her teen years and into her adult years. And it's not like she disappeared from the world of soccer after marrying JJ Watt and just became some sort of trophy wife. She has recently been a contributor and sideline analyst for Amazon Prime and the NWSL.

JJ was not going to let that go, especially as it hit a sore spot. Kealia grew up near Real Salt Lake; in his mind, she's the star walking out of the tunnel, and he's just a random football player. She's the soccer star, and the story is Kealia, not some former Badger and NFL player. Yet, it's another reminder of how our culture celebrates men's sports over women's.

Here's a chance for a local program to elevate the story of a famous female soccer player from their own backyard, in their own sport, but Real Salt Lake missed the chance. Dropped the ball, and JJ wasn't interested in letting it slide.

It's going viral because people are loving it. The support of JJ Watt for not only his wife but women's sports in general is going a long way. He also did it in a playful but shaming way, enough banter to make it catch on.

One social media person tried to also shame him back for omitting her name in the above post, too, but he was quick to show them his original social media post:

If you come for anyone in Watts' family, you'd better not miss because JJ is going to come for you. He knows how to take down a quarterback, and he's proving he knows how to take down an erasure of a famous woman athlete; this time, it was his wife, Kealia.
