What this kid was able to get done with Wisconsin will never be forgotten. This season, did anyone expect Missouri transfer John Tonje to be this good for the Badgers? Not only did he help UW win 27 games, but he was one of the most electric scorers in the Big Ten.
Tonje was a scoring machine for the Badgers. Unfortunately, though, he and Wisconsin were only able to win one game in the NCAA Tournament, with BYU sending UW home in the second round thanks to a heartbreaking 91-89 loss.
Since that defeat, people have been quite emotional, as this group was so much fun to watch. On Monday night, Tonje posted a short and sweet goodbye to Wisconsin fans everywhere, thanking the university for this unreal experience:
Thank you Wisconsin❤️All Glory to God for this life changing experience!! pic.twitter.com/1pClfwg038

John Tonje will go down as a Wisconsin legend after his brilliant season
For the season, Tonje averaged more than 19 points per game, finishing with 724 total on the year. In the loss to BYU, he scored 37 points, passing Alando Tucker (716) for the second most points ever for a single season by a Badger.
Tonje wasn't able to grab the top spot away from Frank Kaminsky, who remains the single-season points leader with 732 - Big Frank set that mark in 2014-15. Hey, finishing in second is still brilliant for Tonje, who won over countless hearts in Madison during his lone campaign with the squad.
Before the season got started, Wisconsin was projected to finish 12th in the Big Ten. Instead, the Badgers looked like one of the top teams in the conference and they even reached the conference tournament title game.
Tonje of course was a major reason for that. Matter of fact, Tonje was a superstar for Wisconsin under Greg Gard. He arrived on campus as a bit of an unknown, but he changed the narrative surrounding his name in recent months. He was a joy to watch and he represented the program and school the right way. It's a shame fans won't be able to see him don a UW jersey again. He'll go down as a team legend.
