John Tonje was finally able to find the court in the second-to-last Utah Jazz summer league game. He's been battling a right sprained ankle, and in the game the other day, he was listed as doubtful but was downgraded to out hours before the tip-off. On Monday, he was finally able to get into the game, was a starter from the jump, and was the most impressive player on the floor.

Former Wisconsin star John Tonje turned heads in his long-awaited Jazz debut

John Tonje had 16 points, three rebounds, three assists, and 1 steal. He was absolutely electric in his summer league debut. He ended the game as the most important player for the Jazz in terms of +/-. He was +15 in the loss. The only other Jazz player with that high of a +/- was Kyle Flipowski, who scored 35 points.

Tonje went 5-9 from the field and 4-7 from three-point range with a corner three to start the game. It was from that moment on that Utah Jazz fans started to think they may have found a hidden gem in the draft. The second round steal.

The Utah Jazz are 0-3 in the summer league and so are basically eliminated from any extra games, but as all teams are guaranteed five games, Tonje will have two more opportunities to showcase his skills.

As a second-round pick, he is fighting for a roster spot and not a two-way or even G-League position. He will need to continue to have games like the one against the Spurs to show that he's worthy of being on the main roster with an NBA contract. If he continues to show his value in all facets of the game like this debut, it will be hard for the Jazz to deny him.
