John Tonje has yet to appear in a Utah Jazz summer league game as valuable reps continue to slip away from him due to injury. The former Wisconsin star has been listed with a "right ankle sprain" since the beginning of the summer league, but the Jazz have said it's "day-to-day." It's now been over a week, and it may be better to be listed as "week-to-week."

The hard part is that these are reps that Tonje needs to prove his spot on the team and get a more permanent role on the team, rather than say a two-way contract or even a G-League only spot. He still has some time, but it's slipping away.

John Tonje and Steven Crowl have yet to appear in a Utah Jazz Summer League game

Former Badger Steven Crowl has also not appeared in any of the summer league games, but unlike Tonje, he isn't injured. He hasn't found a minute on the floor due to "coach's decision" as it is listed on the box score. This is bad news for Crowl; it's worse, actually, than Tonje. As a second-round pick, Tonje will have some role this season for the Jazz. Crowl was always a flyer sign for the Jazz, but since they haven't even put him in, it doesn't look promising.

There is still time for both to appear in the summer league, as it potentially goes through July 20th, depending on how the Jazz fare in the standings. The Jazz (like all the teams) will play at least five games in Vegas, followed by more if the Jazz are one of the top teams left. They already played three games in Salt Lake City as part of a different summer league exhibition series.

This means there are at least four more chances for Tonje and Crowl to find their way in, but with the potential for more if the Jazz do well. Though bad news, the Jazz have already lost their first game. Time is ticking.
